Crushing It for Recycling

We’re incredibly proud of Year 7 students Phoebe R and Hannah C (pictured with Mr Vass, caretaker and recycling champion) who have designed and manufactured a fully working can crusher as part of their Design & Technology learning.

Their idea goes beyond the classroom, aiming to support recycling by making aluminium cans easier to collect and process at SWM & Waste Recycling Ltd. The project showcases strong practical skills and creativity, alongside a clear awareness of sustainability.

Small actions can make a big difference, and this is a fantastic example of students thinking about how design can solve real-world problems. Well done to both students for their initiative, teamwork, and forward thinking!
