SWM Recycling partners with Exeter City Football Club

SWM Recycling is delighted to announce a new two-season partnership with Exeter City Football Club, becoming the club’s Big Screen sponsor at St James Park.

The partnership will give SWM prominent visibility to supporters throughout every home match, while bringing together two organisations with strong local roots and a shared commitment to their communities and the environment.

Based at Roundswell Business Park in Barnstaple, North Devon, SWM is a specialist waste management and recycling company dedicated to transforming waste into a useful resource — sustainably, safely and economically.

SWM provides a comprehensive range of services, including total waste management, metal recycling, skip hire, hazardous waste and scrap vehicle recycling, supporting businesses of all sizes across the South West, from major organisations to individual tradespeople.

Phil Akers, Managing Director of SWM, said:

“For us, supporting Exeter City is about much more than having our company logo on the screen or an advertising board. It is an opportunity to bring together two organisations with strong local roots, a commitment to making a positive difference in the community and many shared values.
“We really like the inclusive and welcoming feel of the club, which enhances both the atmosphere and the experience for supporters. The fact that Exeter City is Trust-owned also makes the club unique, with the fans’ experience at its heart, while the club continues to promote and invest in local talent through its Academy.
“Our expertise in waste management and recycling, helping businesses and households across the South West turn waste into useful resources, makes this partnership a natural fit. There is also a strong sustainability connection, with Exeter City having built a reputation for environmental initiatives and achieving Silver status in the EFL Green Clubs programme in 2025.
“This partnership is an exciting development for SWM. As well as gaining valuable local brand exposure, we hope it will help us build greater direct community engagement, strengthen our corporate social responsibility ambitions and continue to promote the importance of responsible recycling.”

SWM’s commitment to zero waste to landfill reflects its genuine dedication to environmental sustainability — a value shared by Exeter City.

The club’s own Cans4City recycling scheme, delivered by a team of committed volunteers, has raised more than £34,000 for good causes since 2005 and is a great example of the shared ethos between the two organisations.

Tom Wenborn, Commercial Sales and Relationship Manager at Exeter City Football Club, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome SWM as our Big Screen sponsors. We look forward to developing our relationship with them over the coming two seasons and supporting them to achieve their business aims.”

The partnership marks an exciting new chapter for SWM as it continues to strengthen its presence across the South West, while supporting a club that shares its commitment to community, sustainability and making a positive difference.
